Class starts in two days, for those reading this in advance, know that this is a rigorous course which utilizes each and every class period even the first day. We will be meeting for the entire class time. You can expect to get messy right away so please come prepared with either a change of clothes or dress appropriately. Note: long nails can sometimes be a problem for some people.
We will be starting two projects on the first day, using the fundamentals of hand building which are coil and pinch, and learning the joining process slip & score.
We will also review the syllabus, guidelines for health and safety in the studio, rules, assign lockers and shelves; and have a light discussion of the properties of clay as you begin to get a feel for it.
You only need bring yourself for the first day but please purchase or make a sketchbook for use during the semester as we will begin using it the second class meeting.
